The TOPTIER CNS Summer School (TOPTIER-CNSSS25), hosted by Center for Nuclear Study, the University of Tokyo, will be held for Aug.22 - 28, 2025. The school has been held every summer since 2001 to foster the young generation of nuclear physics in Asia. The school is co-hosted by TOP-Tier platform In Extremely Rare isotope science project of Korea, Super Heavy Element Center (RCSHE), Center for Accelerator and Beam Applied Science (CABAS) of Kyushu University and Japan Physical Society. The school is also supported by ANPhA and RIKEN Nishina Center.

The venue of the school is the Conference hall of the RIKEN headquarter building in RIKEN wako campus (22, 25, 26, 27, 28th/Aug.) and Koshiba hall, Hongo campus, the University of Tokyo (23rd/Aug). The school aims to foster the young generation of nuclear physicists. The participants of the school will meet together to discuss the lectures in the relaxed atmosphere after each school day, which enhances the mutual understanding between participants.

The lecturers of the TOPTIER-CNSSS25 are,

  • Prof. Dr. Calro Barbieri (Milano, It), "Ab initio methods for nuclear structure"
  • Prof. Seonho Choi (SNU, KR), "Probing nuclear structure with electron beam (TBC)"
  • Dr. Heather Crawford (LBL, USA), "In-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy in the era of GRETA (tentative)"
  • Prof. Yasuko Kameyama (Sustainable Society Design Center, University of Tokyo), "Climate change and energy,  International responses to climate change"
  • Dr. Shin'Ichiro Michimasa (RNC), "Overview of RIBF and related topics"
  • Prof. Taka Otsuka (Univ. of Tokyo), "Quantum many-body formulation of nuclear shapes, rotations, and vibrations"
  • Prof. Taeksu Shin (IBS, KR), "Introduction of RAON and new opportunities"
  • Prof. Ken'ichi Yoshida (RCNP, Univ. of Osaka), "Pairing and Superdeformation (tentative)"

As the past CNS Summer School, we will have young scientist sessions where the Ph.D students and Post-docs contribute to the oral presentation.  From 2018 we select a few persons from the presentations as the winners of “CNSSS Young Scientist Awards”. The certificate will be given to the winners.

We plan to support the accommodation fee and travel expenses, although it is limited. The support will primarily come to those who perform an oral presentation.  If you need the support, pls make the registration not later than Jul./22nd.

Regarding the fees for snacks and light meal during the poster session, we kindly ask that you contribute 1000 yen if you are a student, and 2000 yen if you are a postdoc or in another category.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the school.

With best regards
